Literature in the streets
Edinburgh is not only one of the most beautiful cities in the world, but also a center of literary production and genius. In 2004 Edinburgh was named as the first ever UNESCO World city of Literature. As far as monuments to go, the Scott monument is the most imposing feature on Princes Street. We have as well The National Poetry Library, The National Library, the impressive Central Library. There's even a Writer's museum on the Royal Mile paying homage to Burns, Stevenson and Scott. But this city itself features in their writting. James Hogg's Memoirs and Confessions of a Justified Sinner takes place in Edinburgh and the Prime Minister of Miss Jean Brodie has the tyrannical teacher's charges trotting across the Meadows.
Will this decorative title something more in the everyday of city's people? After spending an afternoon reading Harold Printer with a person, after knowing what is the meaning of Ghazals and reading poems of Gray tonight in a pubs, I know that there are still people that has a soul... this kind of soul that only some know how to deal with it, this soul that enjoy every moment.
